SGT Clyde Smith
June 19th, 1953 - March 19th, 2006

Clyde passed away at the age of 52, at Tift Regional Medical Center, in Tifton Georgia. After graduating from Spencer Business College of New Orleans, with honors, as a computer operator; Clyde joined the Army, where he served 17 years. Clyde was assigned to HHC as part of the 317th Engineers and worked in Battalion S-1.

Newspaper Obituary and Death NoticeSun Herald (Biloxi, MS) - March 30, 2006 Deceased Name: Clyde Smith Clyde Smith, 52, a resident of Tifton, GA, and a native of Gulfport passed away Sunday March 19, 2006 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. He was born in Tylertown, MS, to the late Mr. Claude Smith and Elder Sis. Eva Smith Jones. He graduated from 33rd High School in Gulfport and Spencer Business College of New Orleans, LA, with honors as a computer operator. He served 17 years in the U.S. Army, with Army Commendation Medal and an honorable discharge. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Smith; grandparents, Hurley & Mary Carson; aunt, Emma Garner, and uncle, James Carson. He is survived by his wife, June Smith of Tifton; one son, Jaylon Smith of Tifton; his beloved mother, Elder Sis. Eva Smith Jones; his stepfather, Alphonse Jones, three brothers and one sister, L.C. (Alice Faye) Smith, Clive (Suzette) Smith, Larry Smith and Emma (Charlie) Harrison, all of Gulfport; one uncle, J.C. Carson of Gulfport, a host of cousins and two nieces and friends. Visitation will be Friday from 10:30-11 a.m. at Greater Freewill Church of God in Christ, Gulfport with funeral services at 11 a.m. Burial in Biloxi National Cemetery. Page: A4 2006 Sun Herald |
