PFC Eddie D. Taylor was born in Litt Carr, Kentucky on 4 December 1970. He entered active duty on 9 October 1990 after serving in the Army Reserves. PFC Taylor was assigned to Company C, 317the Engineer Battalion on 23 October 1990. He then attended the Frankfurt MILCOM’s Germany Headstart Program. It was during this time period that the unit was notified that it would be deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operations Desert Shield. PFC Taylor deployed with his company on 4 December and was assigned as a Combat Engineer with 2nd Sqd, 3rd Plt, C Company. Because of his hard work and dedication he became track vehicle operator for his squad and was promoted to the rank of Private First Class. During Operation Desert Storm he earned the respect of his peers and leaders. His hard work and dedication earned him the Army Commendation Medal. PFC Taylor returned to Germany on 28 April and then went on leave on 13 May. It was while on leave in Kentucky that PFC Taylor lost his life in a drowning accident. His death brought great sorrow to his unit and command. He will be greatly missed by his friends and fellow soldiers. *from the unit memorial ceremony |
