Got Married To a German girl in Sossenheim 52 years later still going strong, Left Germany June 1966. kept going back mostly every year to visit In-laws and both Bases.. Served with Good People, Arturo Gutierrez, Texas, George Laing, Philadelphia, Ernest Boomersbach, Texas, Captain Spencer, Jimmy Boatwright, Jacksonville Fl. Sp4 Scott, David Sturm, Rochester N.Y. many more good people. and good memories. There was a kid from N. J. didn't take to the Military, his name was Jackson took a general Discharge, he was a good guy though. well enough for now...

I was the Battalion Draftsman working from Headquarters Co, S3 section at Camp Eschborn from Nov 68 until June 70. Our battalion sent troops to Tunisia to construct bridges. Capt Ringsak was in charge of the project.
Came to the 317th in Dec. 77 until Aug. 80. Started at HQ Company and transfered to the Delta Dogs. SFC Tate was was our top and CAPT. Gonser was CO. I cross trained and became the TAMNS Clerk at the Motor pool. SSG Vogt where are you?

Served in the 317th at Ft. Benning from 1992-1995 under LTCs Whitten, Kasprisin and Kingston. Fond memories for both me and my wife, with exception of spending 7 months at the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin, CA. Essayons!
I was stationed at Eschborn from 89 - 91 with Charlie Co. Went to Desert Storm and the ETS ‘ d in Dec. 91. I had a lot of good memories from being at Eschborn but a lot of health problems from the war. I hope all my 317th Brothers are well! Contact me if you wish to talk.

i was stationed in eschborne from august 1970 till dec.71....i never smoked so much hash in my life....iwas in bco. but i had permanent duty as a up....gate guard...i remember pfc.arnold newcome....pfc.dan bliss...pfc.eric medina....hated it there ,i 1049`d to vietnam...i liked the bonanza club in hoechst....shit park in frankfort....i thought i would turn into a kilo of hash before i left there...i had a platoon sgt.named ditzenburger and one named kapowski......both were always trying to play gotcha...i stayed in the army for 9 more years....done most of my time at ft.riley,ks. in the first division...i loved the people,food,beer,and women of germany but hated the army there....too much bull s#$t....
I was at Eschborn from November 1968 until February 1971. Started out in company B and then transferred to ADM. I'm the one that had the Honda 450 motorcycle...wasn't supposed to own it but I let all the officers ride it and then it was "ok". Like to hear from anyone that was there back then.
Co. A armorer from 68-70. Had great friends as Mike Mcduffee, Steve Knutson and Owen Martin. Lived in Frankfurt with my wife and had to take the U-bauhn every morning to catch a ride with Eddie Pugh. Do not miss 1st. Sgt. Leak telling me to pass the I-G inspection for the arms room or would make me stay for three more years.
I was in A Company from Aug 1966 to Dec 1967. I was one of the company clerks. There was SP4 Peter Montemurno and me, PFC Douglas -- I was SP5 by the time I rotated. I joined the reserves in in 1981 and retired as CW5. None of my experiences can compare to the 317th.
Dad served with the 317 in the early 1950s, would like to know if any of these guys are still around. His name was Cpl Paul Watson. Some the names on his old photos are Stewart, Treadway, Scotton, Tucker.

Company D 317th at camp eschborn from 1968 to 1970, had some great times with some good friends I do believe I served under Jim Jenning if you were a 2nd Lt at the time. I was a Sp5 in Headquarters Platoon

Just read John R Johnson's entry dated May 1, 2017. I was a Radio Operator in HQ Company also starting out in McNair and later going to that God awful Camp Eschborn. My time was May 1963 to May 1965. I was trying to find out who the Group was that we were in to look for their logo for my website.
I was a radio operator for HQ Co, 317th from January '60 until August '61 at McNair Kaserne. Just after I was released from the Army, the Berlin Wall was built and I was recalled to active duty for another year because of critical MOS.
Co. D e17th at Bad Hersfeld 1960-63.121'20 Demolition and 5ton driver. I dont see any entries from that far back but I was happy to see that 317th carried our proud tradition thru Desert Storm.

I was at Camp Eshborn from 1978 to 1980, I was in my initial permanent party in Company A 317 Combat Engineers Battalion and what impressed upon me the most is the how we had each other back, I was treated like family right immediately were "second to None".

Was in the 317th way back in 1966 & 67 then to Viet Nam. Stayed in the army and retired a 1SG . 70 years old now and still seems just like yesterday.
