I was at Eschborn from November 1968 until February 1971. Started out in company B and then transferred to ADM. I'm the one that had the Honda 450 motorcycle...wasn't supposed to own it but I let all the officers ride it and then it was "ok". Like to hear from anyone that was there back then.
Co. A armorer from 68-70. Had great friends as Mike Mcduffee, Steve Knutson and Owen Martin. Lived in Frankfurt with my wife and had to take the U-bauhn every morning to catch a ride with Eddie Pugh. Do not miss 1st. Sgt. Leak telling me to pass the I-G inspection for the arms room or would make me stay for three more years.
I was in A Company from Aug 1966 to Dec 1967. I was one of the company clerks. There was SP4 Peter Montemurno and me, PFC Douglas -- I was SP5 by the time I rotated. I joined the reserves in in 1981 and retired as CW5. None of my experiences can compare to the 317th.
Dad served with the 317 in the early 1950s, would like to know if any of these guys are still around. His name was Cpl Paul Watson. Some the names on his old photos are Stewart, Treadway, Scotton, Tucker.

Just read John R Johnson's entry dated May 1, 2017. I was a Radio Operator in HQ Company also starting out in McNair and later going to that God awful Camp Eschborn. My time was May 1963 to May 1965. I was trying to find out who the Group was that we were in to look for their logo for my website.
I was a radio operator for HQ Co, 317th from January '60 until August '61 at McNair Kaserne. Just after I was released from the Army, the Berlin Wall was built and I was recalled to active duty for another year because of critical MOS. Among the interesting events that occurred while I was there were the shooting down of U2 and capture of Gary Powers by Russians, and the capture by Israeli Mossad of Adolf Eichmann and his subsequent trial.
Co. D e17th at Bad Hersfeld 1960-63.121'20 Demolition and 5ton driver. I dont see any entries from that far back but I was happy to see that 317th carried our proud tradition thru Desert Storm.

I was at Camp Eshborn from 1978 to 1980, I was in my initial permanent party in Company A 317 Combat Engineers Battalion and what impressed upon me the most is the how we had each other back, I was treated like family right immediately were "second to None".
